Total Carbs vs Net Carbs

What is the difference between total carbs and net carbs that are in the top of the planner? I’m new to this and trying to get the gist of what’s going on.

Net carbs are carbohydrates minus fiber.

You really have to read your labels. I have read labels but always looked for low fat. Now this is so different. Now I watch for carbs and protein!

Hi! I’m new to this too so I have been doing a lot of researching. I found this information on the Healthline website and it was very helpful! “ To calculate the net carbs in whole foods, subtract the fiber from the total number of carbs. To calculate the net carbs in processed foods, subtract the fiber and a portion of the sugar alcohols.”

If you eat unprocessed food you will not have a problem counting net carbs.  If you  eat a lot of protein bars, the net carbs are not usually accurate.
