Confusion over carb intake

Hi all,

I'm new to the keto diet, and to this app. When I do my initial assessment, it says I should consume 12g net carbs per day. I then downloaded a meal plan from the app and asked it to generate based on my macros etc - however, the meals are consistently 20+ net carbs per day. Is this correct? Is it 12 or 20+ net grams of carbs that I should consume?

  • You’ve arrived at 12g by choosing a calorie limit and choosing percentages of those calories for each macro.  The diet is not about specific percentages.  It is about getting carbs low enough to get into and maintain ketosis. Most people can do that eating 20-30 net carbs.
