Why am I still not in ketosis?

I've been doing the diet for a couple of months and have lost 2 stone. However apart from a couple of times when they were very pale pink, when  I use the urine strips I am not in ketosis. I have quite a bit of weight to loose and stick to generally under 20g net carbs, and am  keeping an eye on protein and fat macros. I also went through what felt quite like keto.flu early on but still not much showing on the strips.  Does anyone have any ideas of what might help? thank you.

The urine strips are not an accurate gauge of whether or not you are in ketosis.

If you are loosing weight I wouldn't worry about it.

You might actually be in ketosis and your body is simply utilizing the ketones instead of pissing them away.

Early on the body hasn't figured out how to utilize all of the ketones so  it pisses the excess away to keep your body from getting too acidic.

Thank you. I was wondering if I was doing anything wrong or if there was something I could do to get me into ketosis eg more water. I struggle with fewer carbs than 20g as I tend to feel a bit dizzy with lower. So thank you for that advice. I will plough on!

I have asked the exact same question.  hubby and I eat the same things, although he is allowed slightly more.  His keto sticks from the start (week 4 now) have never shown anything, whereas he often smells ketotic on his breath, and mine are always positive! I'd read that after a few weeks, you utilise the ketones better, so wont always show positive.

I've considered a breath analyser, but figure if we are loosing weight, that's all I really care about.   A 2 stone weight loss is fantastic, and if you are keeping to your macros, I wouldnt worry about checking sticks.
