Hi vadtrav! The app itself can track total carbs or net carbs.. you decide which you want to track in your app settings under "getting started". As far as which one the keto diet requires or recommends, I will have to let someone else answer with factual information.. my mother, husband,and myself all track NET carbs and we have lost a combined total of 78lbs since mid- January! So I think it's just a personal preference issue. The more fiber in the foods you eat that contain carbs is much better than earing foods with carbs that lack the fiber.
