Seven weeks in- no glipizide, metformin, byudreon, or lantus- sugar has been ranging in the 90’s in the am. The dr and I agreed to check A1c at the 3 month mark and evaluate. I have no idea if these results are common... but it’s kept me on the straight and narrow.

I have used Kero & IF to avoid meds for type II diabetes.  It is a lifestyle change, not a miracle cure.  When I go back to eating the typical American diet my A1C soars and my body simply cannot handle the carbs.  I don't know if that goes for everyone, though.  I think it takes me longer to go into ketosis, but I got ketone testing strips in the mail today and after 4 days I have a moderate amount of ketones in my urine.  This is the second time I have restarted Keto to control my diabetes.  Its sort of like stopping smoking.....some things take more than one attempt and it doesn't hurt a thing to try.  I have been restricting to 20 net carbs per day and really don't worry about being too precise with the fat & protein.  Just keep in mind that extra protein can be hard on your kidneys. Don't fear the fat!!
