Daily Amounts

Should I go over or under my daily limit?

I’m new to this app as well as the keto lifestyle. I’m using this platform to teach myself what kinds of foods to eat, what a balanced keto diet looks like and portion control. Obviously the daily wheel gives me limits for the calories, fats, proteins and carbs I’m eating, but is the intention to stay under the limit or to reach it like a goal?

I would assume the idea is to stay under the max for carbs, but is it super ridged? I’m sometimes over a gram or 2. Is that going to break my diet?

And what’s the lesser of 2 evils for the protein and fat quotas? Hitting it and being over a bit or getting close and falling a little short as not to go over?

I find I’m usually over in protein to get close to hitting the fat.

Most importantly of all. Am I reading into the daily quotas too much? Lol.

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm always under my carb allowance, however I'm a bit under on my fats and protein as well. It just seems that I'm not very hungry. My appetite has significantly decrease since starting keto a week and a half ago, so I've only been consuming between 1000 and 1200 calories a day.

Hmm, yeah I wonder if just letting your appetite take over is a good idea or if you should be forcing yourself to eat more calories.

The most important is to stay at or under your carbs. I don,t worry if I'm a little bit either side on the fats and proteins. Then I do keep an eye on the calories, but I am not going too low because I want some room to reduce further to do the difficult last bit. I tend to look over the last week, and ensure that everything averages out about fight.

I'm only 1mth in, so fairly new too.  I have days where my protein is too high and fats too low, but nearly always I'm under 20g net carbs.   Too much protein will throw you out of ketosis and isnt good, but going over one day here or there isnt an issue. I find if I'm too obsessed about it, I stop enjoying food and it becomes a chore. I have learnt that I'm more aware of protein in particular now and try not adding large amounts to every meal- which I was initially doing.

If I'm full, I stop eating.  I dont see the point of stuffing in more calories for the sake of it.  I figure having a calorie deficit is better than going over, but again, the odd day over wont kill you.  How long have been on keto?  Are you in ketosis? Lost any weight?

I am sort of new to the diet, being in my first month and this is what is helping me keep within my limits. I plan my meal the night before and juggle my foods to meet the correct carb, fat and protein requirements keeping my calorie intake into consideration. A tablespoon of heavy cream helps increase fat intake. Also, if need be I put 2 or 3 tablespoons of heavy cream in a magic bullet along with 1/2 cup of frozen strawberries and it makes a yummy dessert which helps me meet fat quota. Any thoughts ?

  • Linda try coconut oil in coffee just a teaspoon but it actually helps burn fat. They don’t kn0w why.  I have heard sometimes cream can stall weight loss so if you ever have a problem look there first.

Protein is a goal - hit it

Carb is a limit- don’t pass it

Fat is your level - if your hungry use it (healthy fats)
