Weight loss with Keto?

I recently listened to a podcast that suggested weight loss may not happen on a keto diet.  I actually started keto TO lose weight and also to see if it would help my chronic migraines.

I put in all my info in this app and it says I can have about 1250 calories and 16 net carbs.  Today is day 1 and I've done really well but I'm wondering if 1250 calories is enough.  The lady doing this podcast suggested it wasn't.  That it would put my body into stravation mode and that it would hold on to  the weight. What you guys think.  Ultimately I'd like to lose 40-50 pounds. Have you had success with calorie restrictions?

Thanks!!

I don't know why anyone would say you can't lose weight on keto. If done correctly I have not heard of anyone that wanted to lose weight and couldn't. I260 sounds like enough calories to me but it really depends on how much you weigh now, your age and activity level. Actually although it can't be totally discarded calories aren't all that important on keto. Its the balance of food ( your macros). Keep it at 70 % of the total daily calories consumed as healthy fats, 25% as protein and 5 % or less as carbs. 50% or more of your carbs should come from green leafy veges. Stick to that and I really believe you can lose weight. Remember that day2-4 are tough but by the end of your first week hunger and cravings will drop. Sometimes you have to remind yourself to eat.  The main thing I have learned on keto is listen to your body. Eat when hungry, don't when you aren't. I've been on it for approx 8 months and lost my goal of 70 lbs at this time.
