Always hungry

I just started three days ago and I'm finding that I am hungry all the time. I am eating almost exactly the suggested carb/protein/fat amounts but I'm struggling because I'm still hungry and can't find anything to eat that doesn't push me over the top. Suggestions please!

Part of your hunger could be carb cravings and your body detoxing the sugar from your body. Whenever I used to have a cheat day, I felt so deprived going back to low carb because It was in my head. Also, sugar is as addictive as cocaine! I'm not just talking about sweets here. Sugar is in a lot of foods you wouldn't think it would be in. It can take up to a week for the cravings to pass. For me, by the 4th day, I'm usually satisfied. What are your macros?

Try eating most of your protein in the morning.  If I don't eat a lot of protein in the morning I feel hungry all day long.  Everybody is different, but it may work for you too.

It takes a f e w days to a week for your body to adjust to not think you are starving it. It does get better, hang in. Try drinking a hot beverage or broth and keep your fats up.

  • I find when I eat the healthy fats (olive oil, avocado oil, butter, heavy whipping cream and bacon) I feel very satisfied and not hungry at all.

  • Sugar is just like a drug and part of the withdrawal is not hunger but psychological. It's high insulin going from high to low that's when the craves start and hunger begins. Check out Dr Eric Berg on YouTube. It helped me a lot

  • Its got to be carb cravings! 3 days in and your body is still wanting carbs for fuel. Stick with it and trust that the cravings WILL ease up. I was at work during my 2nd day.... had a complete meltdown at the vending machine... i caved into the cravings and had 3 umm... not at all ketogenic food items... and i scarfed them down like i had been in the dessert for 40 days... :/

Which started my process allllll over again, with cravings and flu and tired fatigue.... and it delayed me that much more. Hang in there.. your supposed to have withdrawals.. it means that it is WORKING!

How are you doing now?  You were 3 days in when you posted, and you would still be in keto flu most likely.
Cravings and hunger will be strong as this early phase. Your body is used to getting fuel from carbs, and it wants you to eat more. But it will switch to ketones when carbs don't come. After that happens, the cravings and hunger will begin to fade.
