Having trouble with having enough protein

I’m constantly having trouble getting enough protein for my diet.  Today I’m only at 27 grams after lunch and should be at 94 by the end of the day.  This has been going on for the last couple weeks.  My net carbs are usually a bit over and fats are too.  Also trying IF a few times a week but the scale hovers at about the same point each day.  Any suggestions?

You can consume a low carb protein shake. It usually has 25g of protein with 2g net carbs. Also eat plenty of egg whites. And of course meats. Like ground beef 80%-20%. At least.

If your not hungry and loosing body fat don't worry to much. That's my opinion. But keep the carbs in check if your on ketogenic.  That's a must. You should test your blood or at least urine ketones and see if your producing any.

I found out today that even the apps are a huge difference. Here is what I noticed. I added my food journal into the Carb Manager and the Fitbit app. Guess what happened. My carbs where higher in Fitbit and way lower in CM. My calories for the day in the Fitbit app was 1150 and in CM it was 1400.

So what I'm trying to tell you here is, of your scale doesn't move don't get hung up not being able to get your protein in. You have too much and don't go over your carbs. Or this diet won't work.

I also need to add.... I weigh all of my food! To get a most accurate account.

Thanks to all of you for your input.  Think I will just keep it simple and stick with coconut and olive oils, butter, avocado, eggs and fish. Just leafy greens and a few grams of tomato for carbs.  I think having variety like “ keto breads” or the low carb recipes offered are too much for me at this point.  We’ll see...

wamdesigns Wow, that's a huge difference in the two apps' calorie counts. Did you figure out the reason for the discrepancy? Were there different food values in the database, or was it something like Fitbit was deducting your exercise from your total calories? Or if both apps are deducting exercise, maybe they don't agree on the calories burned?

Regarding food values: I have noticed that while CM might say a serving of a veg is 2g carbs, if you add another serving in another meal, it might say 2g carbs on the entry but only add 1g to your total of carbs for the day. I assume it's tracking fractional amounts behind the scenes and that serving is something like 1.6g carbs. But that wouldn't account for hundreds of calories.

Of course some of the food values will vary a bit depending on the source of the data, but that wouldn't account for that spread either.

Joyful Both apps do not deduct your work out 🏋 from calories or carbs. I weighed my food and entered it at the same time into the Fitbit app and the Carb Manager app. I did expected a small difference, but the carbs and calories where to my surprise a big difference.

Here is what I found: With Carb Manager the carbs are on the low side and the calories are higher.

With Fitbit carbs are higher and calories are lower.

There is no explaining it away. I weighed the food and entered it into the apps as such, weight. It's not a big deal and I was trying to let the lady know NOT to sweat the small stuff too much.

Joyful your fractionally computing is possible. It can round up from .6 , or down from .4. But all that makes no difference over all if you stay at 20 or 18 for induction Adkins or Keto.  You see that in nutrition values on food packaging, like so: <1 which means less then 1 gram of carbs which could also mean .9 😁 So I count <1, as 1 gram and if I use Splenda or other sweeteners it is 1 gram each sweeteners. If one doesn't then weight loss can slow dramatically.

wamdesigns Yes, you're right not to sweat the small stuff. I'm just wondering which app is right? or are both wrong?

The thing is, there are 4 calories in 1g of carbohydrate, 4.27 calories in 1g of protein, and 8.96 in 1g of fat. It's basic math. If two apps show different values,  either they got the data wrong or the math. Im guessing the data was input wrong on the Fitbit app. I googled and found this has been a problem.

But if it's Carb Manager, I'd like to know that. Hey, I'm an editor/proofreader type, which means I make my living sweating small stuff,  so things like this tend to bug me even though I know that, in the grand scheme of things, they're not worth fretting over. 😊

That's nice you care. Thank you, and I think it might be worth checking with the food manufacturers nutrition values.

I think  both are a tat wrong. CM is about carbs and Fitbit about calories. But that could mean the nutritional values on goods too.

I checked and searched to find the answers on that and realized that foods prepared from scratch is most accurate.

Low carb dieters should go at their allowance  or lower and the same for calorie counters go below a bit (around 200 calories, for a day) and you actually might get in true values.

I'm so curious about this that I am entering the food I consume on both app to see how it averages over a month. So I got more on that.
