Yogurt choices

In the yogurt section of the supermarket. With so many choices. What’s a good Keto choice when it comes to yogurt?

  • Whole Milk Full Fat (4%) Plain Greek Yogurt. That's it... and even then in small amounts to stay within macros for keto. Always read the label! There are far more carbs in even plain yogurt than people think! Carb Manager gives it a Keto Grade of "C" - Strictly Limit! I'd personally stay with 1/2 cup maximum per day.

There is a newer yogurt I've found in our local stores (Walmart; Schnucks), "Two Good", which is a (very lightly) flavored greek yogurt that claims to have only 3 total carbs / 2 gr sugar.  I don't eat it daily (since I'm not sure how much I trust their claim and label) but I do keep one or two on hand to eat occasionally, primarily on those evenings when I've only had maybe 15 total carbs that day.  It IS delicious, by the way, not over-sweet or over-flavored, just creamy.  If I truly trusted their label I would have it every day, but unfortunately I'm a bit cynical.  Best wishes!

Slim Dog What do you need out of the yogurt?  I used to have 1/2c yogurt mixed with 1/2c cottage cheese with stevia and fresh berries for breakfast every morning.  Now I take probiotic tabs since cutting yogurt out of my diet after a week on keto.

  • EKR1959 Yes, each 5.3 oz of that yogurt has 3 g carbs 2 g sugars. My concern is that it's low fat. This fat-phobia is killing us! They also add stevia to sweeten, which isn't terrible, but when you eat a low-fat sweetened food, it will increase your appetite without much satiety.

Kevin EarthSoul  You're right about the Two Good yogurt being low-fat...  Luckily I'm not someone who has any trouble getting in my daily fats - LOL - for me that's the easiest part of following this WOE/lifestyle so far!  But you're absolutely correct ; for someone who DOES have a problem getting in their daily fats, this may not be a great food choice (unless they want to whip up some heavy whipping cream and add a big dollop on top)!

If you don’t mind questionable ingredients and merely want something sweet and in a variety of flavors, Kroger made some called CarbMaster, and the fruit flavors are pretty good. Not going to lie, the “cream” flavors have a stronger aftertaste.
