Newbie questions about macros

I am on my 3rd day of Keto. I have hit my macros on the first day in both percentages and grams. On day 2 and 3 I have been right on in percentages but not eating all the grams. Is this ok?  To clarify, I am hitting the ratio prescribed but not eating the quantity prescribed.

  • Do you check to see how much you have left over after inputing your food?  From what I have learned fat is a goal, carbs are a suggestion and protein try to get as close as possible ..

  • I’m tracking everything and have plenty of allowances to eat   I’m just not hungry. My calorie goal is 2000 and I’m at 1200. Macros are in the right percentage

Godinspired  I think you are fine. I mainly focus on my percentages.  You may want to adjust your settings to decrease your daily goals if you don’t need the 2,000 calories a day.  I would try gradually reducing calories. Good Luck.

Godinspired Gina gives good advice. The main thing you want to watch out for is keeping your carbs at 5% or below of your daily calorie intake. So for example if you drop your calories to 1200 a day, your net carbs would be 15, protein 75, and fat 93 if you're sticking to the standard Keto percentages.

debra06201374ad carbs are actually a max. You want to stay below them if possible.

Yes its okay....the pie chart is better to go by...but if you have some macros left over, see if eating a piece of cheese or tablespoon of coconut oil, or peanut butter will get the macros closer. It doesn't have to be "right on".

Try to eat all of your protein.  If you do not hit the carb mark, that is good.  You do not have to hit the fat goal, but if you are starting, the fat will help you to get fat adapted.  Grams are more important than percentages.
