Bread recipe
Hi all.
Does anyone have a keto bread recipe that works please? I’ve tried mug bread, but that was far too eggy and cake-like. I also tried one from the Net called ‘The perfect keto bread’ and it’s horrible - slimy and chewy with a strange taste!
I’m wasting lots of money on the ingredients, as they’re all a lot pricier than ‘normal’ bread ingredients. I don’t mind that if it works and I can eat it. Any tried and tested recipes would be great please.
Thanks so much 😊

I made this one, and it was delicious toasted! I also made croutons for Thanksgiving with this bread.

Calories 90kcal
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 Cup Almond Flour
- 6 Large eggs Separated
- 1/4 cup Butter melted
- 3 tsp Baking powder
- 1/4 tsp Cream of Tartar It's ok if you don't have this
- 1 pinch Pink Himalayan Salt
- 6 drops Liquid Stevia optional
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 375.
-
Separate the egg whites from the yolks. Add Cream of Tartar to the whites and beat until soft peaks are achieved.
-
In a food processor combine the egg yolks, 1/3 of the beaten egg whites, melted butter, almond flour, baking powder and salt (Adding ~6 drops of liquid stevia to the batter can help reduce the mild egg taste). Mix until combined. This will be a lumpy thick dough until the whites are added.
-
Add the remaining 2/3 of the egg whites and gently process until fully incorporated. Be careful not to overmix as this is what gives the bread it's volume!
-
Pour mixture into a buttered 8x4 loaf pan. Bake for 30 minutes. Check with a toothpick to ensure the bread is cooked through. Enjoy! 1 loaf makes 20 slices.

Cloud bread is supposed to make excellent sandwich style bread. There are a lot of recipes and step by step directions online and on you tube. Keto bread does tend to be "eggy', I don't think it's possible to make a true bread substitute. It's also definitely going to cost considerably more to make than regular bread. Straight up, almonds cost a lot more than wheat per pound, and non caloric sweeteners cost a lot more than sugar.

Moondrake I agree in that I doubt a “true“ Keto friendly bread recipe exists that actually tastes just like bread. There are some reasonable substitutes however which help satisfy that urge, particularly for a sandwich. A lettuce wrap burger gets old after awhile. :) And while it’s true certain pantry costs have gone up due to Keto, I think my overall food expense has gone DOWN since I’m eating less and not wasting money on expensive junk foods.

Hutch I love chaffles and my friend's excellent nut bread and almond cake. I make a mean dark chocolate mug cake. I don't eat burgers, but I use chaffles and egg thins to make avocado toast, grilled cheese sandwiches, quesadillas and enchiladas. As for the cost of food, I think my regular grocery cost is probably somewhat higher, as I used to eat a lot of potatoes and pasta and maybe 25% as much meat as I do now. But it's well worth it for the health benefits and feeling better about myself.
