Hi Bobbi. I've also noticed the same thing when logging many foods for recipes, etc. Using a food that had 0 on the label often posts several carbs in a recipe.
BECAUSE - if the designated serving size on a product (example, 1 tbsp) has less than .5 grams, then the manufacturer is able to legally call it -0-.
Which means that if your 1 Tbsp of cream actually has .44 carbs, they can round down and legally show that as 0 on the label. However, there are 8 Tbsps in 1/2 cup. So if you multiply .44 (actual carbs in 1 Tbsp) x 8 (8 Tbsp=1/2 cup), then that means there are 3.5 carbs in 1/2 cup.
