1/2 cup whipping cream has 3.5 carbs according to this site, whipping cream label on carton says no carbs? I didn’t add sugar.

    Bobbi

Hi Bobbi.  I've also noticed the same thing when logging many foods for recipes, etc.   Using a food that had 0 on the label often posts several carbs in a recipe.

BECAUSE - if the designated serving size on a product (example,  1 tbsp) has less than .5 grams, then the manufacturer is able to legally call it -0-.

Which means that if your 1 Tbsp of cream actually has .44 carbs, they can round down and legally show that as 0 on the label.  However, there are 8 Tbsps in 1/2 cup.  So if you multiply .44 (actual carbs in 1 Tbsp) x 8 (8 Tbsp=1/2 cup), then that means there are 3.5 carbs in 1/2 cup.

Does that make sense?  Hang in there!
