Love my coffee sweet and creamy

I have always had cream (about 2-3 tbsp) half & half) and sugar (3-4 tsp) in my coffee.  What can I do it have to substitute the sugar and cream?

keto coffee is yummy. especially if you have coco butter to add to it. just add a tablespoon of fat of choice to your coffee along with a diet sweetener and blend for 10 seconds. i recommend gentle sweet and super sweet blend made by Trim Healthy Mama

Sad news.  You're now down to just 1 tbsp of 18% cream in your coffee.  That's it.  No more sweeteners.  The brain apparently doesn't care if it's keto friendly sweetener, it sends out the signal for insulin to be released when it senses the sweetness.  Insulin shuts off the ability to lose weight until it's done its thing, could be for a short time it depends on if this is morning coffee or later in the day I suppose...anyway, I found that tidbit of information on one of the many videos I watched, it was a big aha! moment.  I think it may have been Dr. Ken Berry.

Whenever I treated myself to a keto shortbread cookie made with sweetener, almond and coconut flours, I wouldn't lose any weight the next day.  Once I heard the above it made perfect sense.  Do yourself a big favour and you will adjust to no sweetener in your coffee.  I too was a double double girl.  Thin is feeling a heck of a lot better than sweet ever tasted.  It takes about a week to adjust your taste buds.  Don't cry, its sooooo worth it!  change to a milder coffee might help?  Good luck!

Use 2 tbsp heavy whipping cream.  The first couple of times you try it, you will long for the sweetness in half and half. But you will quickly adjust and still have the creamy taste.

Use heavy cream and stevia instead of sugar.

Supermom  I gave up eating processed stuff and it made a big difference, too - no more Keto cookies, cakes, breads, etc. I still use Stevia in my bulletproof coffee, though.

  • I loved my coffee with cream and sugar too. Took a month of cold turkey, no sugar, no sweetner to get over the hump.  No longer going through a 4 lbs bag of sugar a month HUGE CHANGE. Started keto doing heavy creamer, then half and half but it was too expensive to maintain for my high volume of coffee usually 8-6 oz cups a day so now I but a gallon of whole milk for my creamer, much more affordable and I mix 1/3 cup of whole milk to 3-4 cups of flavored coffee (has to be flavored)

  • About 3oz of premiere protein cafe latte drink added to 12oz of cold brew over ice makes a great iced coffee.  Using Starbuck's medium roast coldbrew it comes to 60 calories and 4 carbs.  Completely worth it.

    Artificial Sweetener

There is conflicting information on if it affects blood sugar and insulin.

The role it plays of increasing insulin is dependent on the individual.  Some individuals, such as myself, have virtually no increase in insulin.

    Blood Glucose Meter

To determined how it affected my blood sugar, I purchased a Blood Glucometer years ago.   In checking my blood glucose after having something with artificial sweetener in it, I found it had virtually not effect on me.

With that said, I am sure that I'd be better for, health wise, if I didn't have anything with artificial sweetener in it but the upside it allows me to remain in ketosis.

    Different Individuals, Different Effect

A friend of mine is a Type II Diabetic.

Artificial Sweeteners drive his blood sugar reading up.

A Blood Glucometer is inexpensive and is one of the most effective method for determining what's going on with your blood sugar with artificial sweeteners, as well as how you're responding to other foods that you consume.

This was the best price that I found for the meter and strips.
