High protein Keto vs regular Keto

I was trying to see the difference between a high protein Keto and just the regular Keto so I could pick the right one when setting up my macros goals. I was easily able to choose the right one (for me) when  my nutritionist sent me this:

“What Happens When You Eat Too Much Protein

When eating a well-formulated ketogenic diet, you are depriving yourself (intentionally, of course) of glucose. This is done to force your body to rely on fat for energy. Your body will look to utilize other macronutrients in its place, and if it finds excess protein, it will use it instead of fat! Why? Because unlike lipids (fats), protein converts more easily into glucose through a process known as gluconeogenesis.”

It says the high protein option is more for people who exercise a lot which I don’t.

If this is common knowledge then I apologize for this long post.

Thank you! Always good to hear info even if we have heard it before or didn't know.

  • I am new to this. I set mine to high protein but I don’t exercise a lot. Makes sense that high protein would be for workout people. I will change mine to regular.
