Carb Manager data only syncs intermittently to Apple Health

Been using CM for a year now - Very pleased with it as a stand alone app, HOWEVER not so much when it comes to data sharing ....... Regarding export of data to Apple's Health App I've experienced the following:

1) I have many 'holes' in the CM data exported into Apple Health app: Sometimes it misses out a whole day / sometimes it doesn't import a whole row of days 'on the trot' - which are missed out. (And yes, all  sharing permissions etc are correctly set as  CM does 'usually' sync fine into the Health app, ie correct devices /  'permissions' settings can't be the issue).

a) Does  anybody else suffer from this issue / know a fix?

b) CM Developers: Any thoughts on whether this is a CM export problem or an Apple import problem?

2) On some occasions when an item has been recalled that wasn't recorded on a previous day, although it can be amended in CM, this never updates in the Health App.

A solution to BOTH of the above problems would be functionality to 'push' a new 'overriding' sync of the latest data over to Health (either the entire CM data set, or just for a specific day) so that  Apple Health app contains the corrected / most accurate data.

Many thanks for any thoughts on the above

  • I just bought the premium services and activated CM. First thing I looked for was how to sync my steps into CM from my iWatch. I can’t find it. I did change the Sync button for Apple Watch to On in CM, but don’t find any reciprocity in Apple Health app.

Further to my post of a year ago (which CM never resolved or replied to) I found a 'workaround': After any fresh entry in CM I found it was possible to 'force' the correct data into the Health app on my iPhone by changing rapidly between the two apps a few times. However if I forgot to 'flip' between the apps before midnight the data in Health would  be forever 'set' at whatever it was when I had last 'flipped' between apps to force a sync. While it wasn't ideal I stuck with CM (hoping that it would all be sorted by the long touted ("2 years to develop") 'upgrade'.

However since the 'upgrade' occurred last week, not only does my 'app flip to force-sync' workaround method no longer work: Now CM exports totally random data to Apple Health. For example at the end of yesterday I had entered 2435 calories in CM, but only 785 ever showed in Health. This morning (having entered my breakfast into CM), Health is still showing those 785 calories from yesterday (which were wrong for yesterday, let alone today), ie nothing of my actual food entered in CM for today has gone over to Health (and I've been trying for 4 hours). What exactly have CM been doing for 2 years? Why wasn't syncing rigorously checked and debugged prior to enforced release? How hard can that be in the year 2021? Elon Musk is taking people to Mars, while CM can't export a Mars Bar (not that I'd eat one) over to Apple Health Ever. Ever hear of KISS? (Keep It Simple, Stupid).

Adding insult to injury CM have prioritised the 'new look' over making sure it actual works properly: All I ever wanted was a clean, line-by-line (max info per page) nutrition recording tool which would sync with the world's most popular phone (not just some of the time, but all of the time and every time).

It doesn't matter how much you perfume a pig if it's still a pig:
If I want an 'experience I'll join Facebook or Twitter (and I don't, so I won't).

I raised the new (un-fiddlable) synching issue with CM a week ago (immediately after the 'upgrade') when it was immediately obvious that something was way out of whack and sync with Heath was now completely destroyed. I have (of course) had no reply other than the automated "thanks for your enquiry.

Sorry CM - I gave you another year's subs and you actually made your product worse.
I refuse to pay any more for this crappy coding and I will not  be renewing in March.

    bye-bye
