New and I need answers! Haha

Hi!  I jumped on the bandwagon 10 days ago. Felt great actually until yesterday and now I feel sluggish, have a headache, and major brain fog. I’m not too concerned since this is probably normal, considering how awful my diet was prior to beginning keto. Day 10 keto flu though — is that normal?  Also, I ordered Keto bars from Amazon, after reading that they contain 3g net carbs. After eating one I looked at the label and it says it contains 28g of carbs. Yes, I understand that net carbs are less due to fiber, but 28?!?!  Have I ruined the work I’ve done for the last 10 days?  Thanks!

  • Hi, I think you need to replenish electrolytes.  Amazon carries some good powders to flavor your water. Keto “flu” occurs as the body is detoxing from carbs and before fat is being used as fuel.  In the beginning for 6 weeks or more I’d stay away from processed keto foods. Eat Whole Foods and healthy fats.  Keep carbs low, eat  your protein and eat healthy fats for the rest of your calories and you should be fine. Keep it simple.

  • You have to be diligent and look at labels - so many products have jumped on the keto bandwagon that aren’t really keto. I’m sorry that happened!

    also: I’ve been told that pickle juice is a quick remedy for the symptoms you are having ... I took and still do potassium- magnesium- and a B5 vitamin
