Thrilled to bits

Hi, I'm Trina and you've probably come across me in different bits of this website. Today is the first day of week fourteen. I started out back inMarch after seeing a friend being reall successful with low carb, and reversing her diabetes. Years ago I decided to stop dieting because every time although I lost easily, I put it all back on plus a bit more. Over the years the weight crept up and after my dog slowed right up I didn't do the long walks any more. A couple of years ago I bought a trike . I hadn't ridden a bike for 25 years and felt a bit wobbly. It has an electric motor for hills  and I ride round the village with my old dachshund in the basket on the back and  I love it. That is my main source of exercise now.

I reckon I got to at least 280 lbs but I don't know because I was too cowardly to weigh myself!  I am 68, and wondered whether it was too late to be able to do this.

Anyway, I decided to have one last try, and hallelujah! This diet is a sustainable way of life, isn't it? I do plan every day carefully, and that keeps me on the straight and narrow, but  I hardly ever feel hungry and never have cravings. The foods we eat seem to protect against wanting to do the wrong things, and I have now survived many cafes with delicious cakes and restaurants with tempting menus.. I just feel as if I am floating above it all.

I joined this app after about a month, and it has been such a help, and I don't know what I would have done without the contact with all you wonderful people fighting the same fight. It has made such a difference seeing the battles that other people are having and knowing I am not alone.

Anyway, after a month or so, I decided that I would at least get a tape measure and see what was happening. I just wish I'd done it on day one so I knew the whole story.  I use an app called remeasure, which measures in several more places than the bit in this app. I was astonished after the first week when my measurements rocketed down, and since then although sometimes bits of me seem to get bigger, I guess using a tape measure is not an exact science, I have gone steadily down, and the another big jump last week when I lost a whole foot! In total now I have lost 45 inches, or one yard and  nine inches. It's just a little bit here and a little bit there, but I am down two dress sizes and they are feeling loose.

I don't know when or if I will be brave enough to get on the scales, but this tape measure story is enough for the time being. I am just so happy and proud. Thank you all so much for your support and encouragement, I. Hope this post encourages somebody else. Have a good Sunday!

Vickie Oh! Well done! That is the thing, isn’t it? This does feel like something you can continue indefinitely. Specially as when we eventually reach a point where we are maintaining- a long way off for me- we will be able to relax the rules considerably and just keep a strict watch on how we do.

That’s an inspiring story!   Hope your pup can get more active with you or at least be with you while your doing activity.

Sharkwool Frank is 16 and a half now, a bit deaf, a bit blind, and it is just a question of giving him the best quality of life we can. He loves small people, so he enjoys visiting the grandchildren, and he does do walks, but they involve much stopping and sniffing these days. Going on the bike is something we can do together, and there are green places that we stop at with benches for me, where he can get out and have a wander round. This is Frank in the front, and his mum, who is no longer with us, on the back of my trike. I apologise for the blue square, which came out of nowhere and I can't be bothered to sort out!

Trina Actually the blue square, on closer inspection, is a murmuration of starlings at dusk just west of Bournemouth on the south coast of the U.K. Amazing!
