In need of a buddy

I’m new to this process and would love to have a buddy to help me stay in check.   I would like to lose 120 pounds.

    Hi there!  I'll be your buddy!  I am starting keto today and want to lose 50 lbs. Been low carb for 2 months with no loss...but no gain either. I think I'm eating too much so I downloaded this app and it's helping.

    Good afternoon, I’m just checking in to see how you are doing?  I have absolutely no energy today but I am still planning on going swimming today.  I will be weighing in on Sunday.  I am hoping for a good weight loss (2-3 pounds)

    Mariska I'm doing good!  I maxed my carbs yesterday by after lunch...So dinner was just seasoned chicken breast. I was so tired I went to bed at 7:00. Didn't sleep well the night before. This morning I was 191.4.  I was 196 on jan 1.

    Good morning ☀️ Today is weigh in day.  I lost 9 pounds.  I can not believe it. I know that it is mostly water but it sure feels good.  I was never hungry.  This is a lifestyle that I will be able to continue without fail.

    Hello Vicky,  welcome to keto.  I have lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks.  Not to shabby.  The first week I lost 9 pounds but this last week I only lost 1 pound.  I would love to be your buddy.  We can do this!!!!

    I too would like to join in as a group with others. The first week I lost 8lbs and this week I gained a pound but didn’t cheat once and only went over carbs by 1 for one day. The struggle is definitely real but I don’t want to give up.

    I was hoping for a little more but I will take the pound.  It was a busy week.  We were traveling in Canada 🇨🇦 for my birthday.  I kept to my eating plan and I walked the girls (bassets and huskies) twice a day.

  • Hi there! I've been on Keto since Thanksgiving and have lost 21.8 lbs!!!!  My goal was to lose 65 lbs, so although I would rejoice when I've lost, I've kept my sights on the long term goal and not gotten too excited. I've gone through numerous plateaus, but keeping my sight on my long term, has helped me carry through. I love Keto! I was a carb freak, but Keto has stopped my cravings, so I can think and make wise decisions. The Carb Manager app keeps track of where I am daily in relation to my Macros and total calories has helped keep me on track. (I initially started on Lose It! that my Dr. had recommended, but the Carb Manager works much better for me.)  I've looked at the menus here and also in several books, but I've just sort of made up my own as I go along more times than not.  I try to keep it simple. The very few times I've cheated, it's been just a bite of something. With my cravings under control, I can taste something, and be satisfied. I'm not interested at this point in using alternative flours to make bread or desert substitutions. Maybe when I've lost all the weight I need to I will think about that. I eat better than I ever have (rather that popcorn, chips & salsa, and bread.) I am seeing how this is a lifestyle, and I am a happy camper!

  • Good luck Mariska! You can do it! I too am trying to lose 100+ pounds, having weighed in at my heaviest weight at Christmas. I finally said, "enough is enough!"

    Cristal Haberkorn  hi Cristal I also used lose it and it worked well until I started to count carbs. I just ordered South beach food that is “ carb friendly”. I already like this app over south beach’s. Much easier to use. I have done must every diet out there so why not give this a chance.

  • Dizzeliz Congratulations!! I'm sure you will love this diet. After a couple days all the cravings go away! I think that's the best part of it! Count the net carbs. That seems to be easier. Some days I don't even use my whole nc allowance. Whenever I hit plateaus, I just look at the big picture and keep going. But any other diet I've ever been on the max I could lose was 15 lb. This morning I'm down 27.2 lb from where I started the day after Thanksgiving. I go see my internist the first part of March. Won't she be surprised!! She's been telling me for years that I need to lose weight, and it's finally happening!!

    Dizzeliz thanks for responding. Well I just had lunch and I have eaten all my carbs. I may have to adjust my carb intake. I set my goal as 1 lbs a week. I can only have 15 carbs a day. Maybe my carbs should be higher until I start losing.
