Having trouble getting enough fat without sodium

Hi,

just joined and having trouble getting enough fat as I can’t eat many of the high fat foods e.g., olives , bacon , salami, many cheese as I need to stay under 1300 milligrams . I try not to have more than 1 oz of cheese a day.

I’ve been loading up on olive and coconut oils, and butter and still having issues reaching 156g

Too many nuts and seeds and I quickly exceed 25g carbs.

Appreciate your ideas

  • Meal prep is key and with meal prep comes avocado and olive oil.

    Steak with olive oil/butter

Asparagus with olive oil and Parmesan cheese

Macadamia nuts help me reach my fat goals when I’m low. Also a good tea with unsweetened almond milk add MCT oil will help. Anything you make needs a side of fat.

Pork rinds as as tortilla chips helps as a nice snack with guacamole and queso dip.

  • andruboine thank you . I’ll have to make the rinds fresh as can’t find them unsalted .

    I’ll  try your ideas today.

  • My wife and I buy sugar free hot chocolate then add four ounces of heavy cream to it with keirug water. Boom 40 grams of fat with 4 carbs and no protein!

  • tysteelersfa90 heavy cream has become my saving grace as I was a chai latte freak. This is another great idea though I’ll look into doing this come winter time.

  • jmeltz050cd is there a reason you’re avoiding the salt?

On the Keto diet you need to drink a lot of water and salted foods will help you actually absorb it and maintain the electrolytes you need.

Me too.  I don’t cook much and am trying to do keto but all the “easy “ meals are loaded with sodium which go completely counter to med issues.  Working on it but it’s challenging! Good luck to you.

I keep some cheesecake fat bombs in my fridge for low fat days. Heavy Cream in coffee is also a great way to add fat.
