Ketosis Fail after 4 months...

I have been following the Keto diet for 4 months now and every time I check ketones, I am either negative or very very low.  I have bulletproof coffee for breakfast, salad with very low carb dressing, meats, cheese, pecans or almonds or walnuts and sugar free jello cups to satisfy the sweet cravings.  Averaging 13-20 net carbs per day.  Any ideas why I’m not in ketosis?

Are you using strips or some other method. The strips are not reliable and don't work after you've become fat adapted. If you're using the breath or blood ketone test I don't know anything about them.

Moondrake I’ve been using strips.  From Perfect Keto.  But even in the early stages I wasn’t showing any results on the strips?? Wondering if I’m getting too much protein?

I noticed when I incorporated coconut or MCT oil, my ketone strips turned color.

Strips are only good in the beginning when your body doesn't know what to do with Ketones...so your body pees out alot of them. When you become fat adapted, the only way to read ketones is via a blood meter.  :)

Rachel I started reading the book 21-Day Ketogenic Diet Weight Loss  Challenge and I’m discovering that I WAS getting WAY too much protein.  I’ve adjusted my macros and calorie totals and am hoping to see results now.   The book is by Rachel Gregory.  Good resource.
