Slow but Steady

I started this way of eating around October 1.  I’m a 5’3” female, 52 years old and have hypothyroidism so losing weight has been a challenge, but for some reason I’m not struggling as much with sticking to a ketogenic eating plan. SW 167. CW 152. GW 130 or less if possible! To date I’m down approximately 15 pounds. I’m proud of my progress and my ability to stick with this lifestyle. I don’t always see the numbers I want on the scale so during those times I redirect my focus to the non scale victories; not feeling bloated, little to no cravings, making smarter food choices at each meal, seeing positive changes in my body composition, taking the time to educate myself about my health overall and having more energy throughout the day.  On this wonderful Friday, I just want to wish everyone success in whatever form it takes!

I’m 56, hypothyroid and I’ve been eating low carb for 7 weeks .  I’m down 13 pounds; sometimes it’s discouraging when you read about huge losses in the same timeframe but I just keep going.  This is the first way of eating that I’ve been able to stick with.

Aya  A, I to am Hypo, the reason others are losing more is Less, less carbs. Whatever you are doing is great, Less carbs, more weight loss. I weigh everyday, and I know exactly what I have eaten or drank wrong. I drank one fat beer and within a day or two I gained three pounds and knew exactly what I did wrong and swore to never do that again. Another thing is SALT , it keeps you from losing, trust me. This week I set an alltime wt loss record for me. Good luck.

  • You're doing great! It's very encouraging to read about someone's progress that is similar to mine. I'm post menopausal and my metabolism is sloooow.  I try to look at losing slowly as a gift - instead of racing to the finish line, I'm learning  a sustainable lifestyle and turning good choices into lifelong habits that will keep me at my goal. I'm starting month 2 today and I'm down 8 lbs. (maybe a little more; I weigh on Saturdays). I've been in ketosis since day 2 and I keep my carbs at 15-19 g per day.  Despite what I said about racing to the finish line, I wouldn't complain if I could lose just a LITTLE faster! I'm going to start 18/6 IF today. SW 178, CW 169.8, GW 145. I feel better than I've felt in forever and that is a victory in itself.
