Carb counts are either very wrong or everyone else is lying

Comparing the carb count to packages...it's just totally different.  Start verifying on the sites/packages...Somebody is way off.

This is net carbs

Examples:

Thin Slim Plain Bagel.    Packaging: 0    Carb Manager: 2

Diet Dr. Pepper.    Package: 0   Carb Manager:  1

Kroger Smoked Ham Slice:  Package:  1  Carb Manager: 2

This adds up quickly over the day when your target is 20.     Not to mention these are diff by 2x or more.     Really annoyed.   How exactly is CM coming by these numbers?

I can’t answer that directly as I don’t eat bagels or drink pop.  And the ham I buy (different brand) matched up directly.  But as my personal carb limit is 12, I completely understand your frustration as even a single carb difference adds up all to quickly.

I have noticed that, from time to time, there are some difference in the numbers between what’s listed and what CM gives.  I found the ‘scan’ function to be useful in getting to the numbers, and quite frequently will scan items in the grocery store before I decide whether or not to add them to my cart.  Funny... (not really, Grrrr!) how some items list one set of numbers but when scanned give me a different set.

I don’t know which is THE best numbers, but I decided to stick with the CM numbers so at least I’d have a single source for data that, even if not perfect, gave me a consistent reference.  (Hope that makes sense).

You should trust whatever is written on the package, CM for sure has some inaccurate values.

Carb manager counts hidden carbs...ie from sugar alcohols which are small so not listed on manufactures packaging.  If I am not sure I scan the barcode with CB App.

Because we count NET carbs not total carbs.  The package has total carbs.  Net carbs is carbs minus fibre grams.  Hope that helps.
