Increased liver enzyeme Keto or Allulose?

I have started the keto diet 3 weeks ago and had blood work done twice in those two weeks. I have always had higher liver enzyemes hovering around 40 for ALT. In the first of the two recent blood readings that were a week apart my AlT was 70 and last one was 100. What gives? Is it the keto diet or my use of allulose those two things that done differently? Any notice this with use of allulose ?

  • It could just be an adjustment phase for the liver and numbers will return to normal. I would however keep an eye on it and get additional test(s) done in the following months to track it. Ensure you're keeping the drink, sugar and Carbs to zero/minimum and keep hydrated with water and pinch of salt as those first weeks you will lose lots of water. Generally speaking ketosis should lower ALT and other liver enzymes, reduce fatty liver (whether NAFLD, or AFLD-assuming drink is stopped too) and even reverse it, though those first few weeks the liver probably wondering what is going on!

Perceiver and wish you the best of luck!

  • Regarding sweeteners I only use Erythritol and  Stevia liquid but I can't imagine allulose would do anything as it's probably the only other sweetener is use.

  • Yes, mine are to but I don't use allulose so it just may be the diet.
