Hi everyone

This is my first time on carbmanagers.com, or any forum for that matter, but I need some advice. I started my low carb diet about ten months ago and lost about 50 pounds in the first eight months, from 256 to 206 pounds, and that's OK for me because I'm 6'2" and between 200 and 210 is a good weight for me. I haven't lost any weight in the past few months even though I've still been eating about the same, not really counting carbs, just eating all I want of the low carb regulars... meat, eggs, cheese, salads, broccoli, cauliflower, etc and none of the bad stuff. So since I'm not losing weight anyway I figured I'd take one day of the week to eat anything I wanted. The problem is now when I eat a high carb "regular" meal I get a little dizzy and lightheaded. Is that normal?

    Hi Joseph,

I am only new to keto so you prolly know more than I do about it at this stage but just wanted to let you know to try the groups tab, someone may answer in that, it seems to be more active.

I did read somewhere that that can happen when you have a carb overload, you will get something like the keto flu symptoms again.Maybe because of the blood sugar spike as well. Not sure exactly what you were eating but I would maybe just sick to your plain old carbs like rice with chicken or steak or pasta dishes that are not to carb overloaded .Maybe a little shock to the system after eating keto only for so long.

  • Drama Thanks for answering. Yeah, I'm probably not posting in the right spot. This is the first time I've ever been on a forum like this. I guess I should probably ask my doctor. Until I went on this diet I've had high blood sugar for years, not enough to be a diabetic or anything, but I've never had anything like this happen. Now my blood sugar is in the normal range and this just kind of surprised me. I ate oatmeal (with splenda) and a banana for breakfast and felt a little funny afterward but didn't think much of it. But after a dinner of smothered steak, mashed potatoes with gravy,  corn and hot rolls, within minutes everytime I stood up I got lightheaded. It's not like I ate something with a lot of sugar, but I guess carbs can do the same thing.

I hope keto is as easy for you as it was for me. I've never been able to lose weight before, but I've never been over 10-20 lbs overweight until I retired, and I gained another thirty in a few years. I didn't stop eating all I wanted, so I was never hungry, but when I cut out all the high-carb stuff... potatoes, bread, pasta, milk... all the good stuff, I lost seven pounds the first week and an average of a pound and a half a week for seven months. I was amazed. But then even though I was eating the sam, I stopped losing weight. I'm stuck at 205, but I haven't weighed that in thirty years, so not bad!

    Thanks again.
