Weight gain after workout?

Recently at work they have put me on a bike.  I get about 20 miles in on the days I’m biking.  After the day I am constantly 2 pounds heavier and have not changed my eating or foods.  I can only think of that my water intake is not enough but I’m not sure why this is happening.  Any ideas?

I never trust weigh ins at the end of the day. I only do it before I get going. Can't answer why you would be up at the end of the day though. At least, more than you think you should be. I always weigh more at the end of the day.

Everyone gains weight over the course of the day.  Overnight, your body burns calories and dehydrates (which is why you often have to use the bathroom in the morning).  Weighing yourself in the morning will give you the most accurate measurement.  Also, we often gain weight after we exercise due to water retention and inflammation of the muscles (and some other factors). It's healthy and normal.  Keep up the good work!

  • Your weight is both water and fat and muscle. If you drank a liter of water during your workout, don't be surprised at the weight. Also, it's normal after a workout. Look at your body measurements but after a while.

I know this can be very difficult. Especially with doing so many right things. It is really important to drink a lot of water. My goal is 80 ounces a day which is helping me a lot, on top of changing my food intake. How are you holding up?
