I find it is hard to lose the last 10 lbs. Also when you work out, you could be gaining muscle which is a good thing.

I am looking for suggestions too...

  • I have Diverticulosis that has flared recently..mostly because I tried a vegan diet and it didn't work for me.. I need to be grain free. I kept track of my flares and what I was eating.. I finally I think figured out its the keto diet that keeps the symptoms away as long as I stay off grains completely and I mean not even quest bars with the oat fiber or slim fast has oat fiber too.  I think increasing exercise is best to break a plateau because at least you'd be losing inches if not losing pounds right away. Building more muscle would cause a temporary weight gain but it will reverse as the muscle starts burning tons of calories.

  • Get a scale that measures body fat %.  If you are staying the same weight, but replacing fat with muscle, your body composition will change but your weight may not.   I used to weight train pretty hard and at 129 pounds I had 15% body fat and was a size 4 -6.  Before weight training started I weighed about the same but wore a size 9/10.   If your body composition is not changing and you are not losing weight, some possible steps would be to get your thyroid function checked again to see if you need a higher dose, make sure you are eating a caloric deficit by calculating your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) using one of the many online calculators (this will take into account your age, height, weight, sex and activity level).  Also helpful to make   sure you are not missing hidden carbs in your diet - there are several good YouTube videos on this subject, and I was surprised to learn where I might be eating more carbs than I was tracking.

I had subclinical hypothyroid for about 7 years - my thyroid levels were in the normal range, but in fact I had symptoms related to hypothyroid and could not lose weight despite anything I did.  I finally saw a Dr. who recognized that I had subclinical hyypothyroidism and she put me on a low dose of thyroid replacement.  Magic! I was finally able to start losing weight on the same number of calories I'd been eating.  She told me the best range for me would be about 2  milli-international units per liter.  So if you are up around 4 ask your doctor about increasing your dose to get you closer to 2.

If you are very close to your goal weight it certainly becomes harder to lose those last few pounds.  There are some good YouTube videos about losing those stubborn last 10 pounds, so you might try listening to a few and see if you can incorporate some of the suggestions they make.

    Good Luck!
