Hi and help please...

Hello, I just started keto living and I am down 8 lbs so far. I just turned 56 last Saturday. I am so glad I chose this app and I’m glad I upgraded to the paid version sunce it has many more options.

I do have a question that I need answered quickly.  I am leaving to go eat with my hubs about an hour away. I know he’s going to want to go to Outback or Culvers. Can anyone help me to know what to eat at Outback?  I messed up yesterday and did not get all my fats in but did get all my protein and it showed up on my scales this morning. I need to know what to eat (besides their shrimp) that will help get my fats in instead of so much protein. I certainly do appreciate any suggestions!!

Hi Missy I am in the U.K. so can’t help re the restaurants you mention. (My personal advice as a 57 yr old is...)

Eating than 20g  of carbohydrates is the main thing you should concern yourself about for the first 2-3 weeks living Keto. Enjoy your food, steak, chicken, fish & salad, add lots of fats and ensure you get your electrolytes ~ don’t forget potassium & magnesium.  Suddenly hunger goes (times can vary person to person for me it was week 3 first time, week 5 this time); this is when you become fat adapted, now you can address the amount of protein you eat very easily, don’t fear feeling a little hungry occasionally if you get delayed in eating. Check Keto Christina on YouTube re ‘Hunger’.

Getting the fat is easy, olive oil dressing, avocado, cooking in coconut oil or butter, heavy cream, introduce a good MTC oil to your coffee etc. Then up the green leafy vegetables and before you know it, you will be even intermittently fasting. See the self education threads under low carb chat.  Hope this helps. Have a lovely date night.

  • Go with a ribeye if you're gonna eat a steak.  They're typically pretty marbled,, and have a lower protein/fat composition.
