Isn't keto diet raise the LDL cholesterol?

Hi,

from what I understood, Keto diet emphasize eating a lot of fat, so I guess people on this diet eat a lot of animal products (meat, eggs, etc.). However, food comes from animals consists a lot of bad cholestrol (LDL), so isn't keto diet raise the LDL which is extremely bad for us?

Vary your protein sources, and maintain fats by eating healthy kinds. I have been trying to get my fats from avocados, and not animal products. Lean meats are better at keeping bad cholesterol at bay. Fish, and chicken are better at this than red meats. Look to healthy substitutes for your diet, I also try to sub more veggies and avoid breads and pastas.

I agree. I mean, I ate a tuna fish for the first time this week to shake up my protein sources. Wasn't too bad!

As far as LDL cholesterol, "Cholesterol is used to make hormones like vitamin D, testosterone, and estrogen. Cholesterol is also needed for the production of bile acids that help you digest fat." -Franziska Spritzler, RD, CDE

Cardiologist "Dr. Petre said that when done under medical supervision, the keto diet can be good for your heart, especially as you start to lose weight. And while the connection between fat and heart health is still being debated, she said that sugar is way more harmful for your heart than fat or protein."

Likewise, "CONCLUSIONS: The present study shows the beneficial effects of a long-term ketogenic diet. It significantly reduced the body weight and body mass index of the patients. Furthermore, it decreased the level of triglycerides, LDL cholesterol and blood glucose, and increased the level of HDL cholesterol.

Long-term effects of a ketogenic diet in obese patients. - NCBI.NIH"

Small numbers of people have high LDL on keto, but that is the large LDL, not small LDL (really bad stuff).

"Studies show that people whose LDL particles are predominantly small and dense have a threefold greater risk of coronary heart disease. Furthermore, the large and fluffy type of LDL may be protective." -Docs Opinion

Green beans, okra, strawberries, almonds and walnuts, avocado, olives, eggplant, fatty fish, fiber, antioxidants lower LDL.

Also, get comparison blood tests and follow keto under the supervision of your doctor.

"Cholesterol is used to make hormones like vitamin D, testosterone, and estrogen. Cholesterol is also needed for the production of bile acids that help you digest fat." - this referring to the HDL cholestrol but I was talking about the LDL cholesterol which doesn't have any benefits at all

I know that fat from plants does not consist LDL, but, how many avocados and nuts can you really eat?!

"Furthermore, it decreased the level of triglycerides, LDL cholesterol and blood glucose, and increased the level of HDL cholesterol." - this is true as long as your fat sources are not dairy and red meat, right? (cause they consists loads of LDL's)
