Day 4 Keto- Dizziness
Hi guys!
As the title says, today is day 4 on keto (for the first time) for me. The first two days were horrific, I was slow to function, dizzy, nervous, etc. I already took a B complex, and vitamin D, and just recently incorporated a centrum multivitamin which made me feel a lot better. I guess my concern here at this point is, there are moments in the day where my mentation is off. Sometimes I feel almost dizziness, feeling like I’m leaning forwards if you will or top heavy. I’ve focused on incorporating healthy fats (added MCT oil today in my coffee) started cooking with avocado oil, etc. I am drinking plenty of water with added salt (a pinch with every 34 oz) and I drink at least 3 a day.
I have noticed that I am less anxious and depressed since getting off sugar, and it seems everyday I feel better and sleep better, just wondering if this brain fuzziness/ dizziness will dissipate as my body adjusts. (For reference: I’ve ate horribly all of my life with your typical fast food binges, cakes, breads, etc so I know my body is like what are we REALLY doing here). Just looking for some reassurance that it will go away eventually.
Thank you so much, and I appreciate any tips or advice anyone can offer 😊

Well first of all, keep up the hard work and effort..dieting is so hard. I am currently trying to prepare for the keto diet as well. But I decided to start it slowly and gradually decrease my carb intake over a week or two. I am doing this to prevent myself from getting what they call the “keto flu”. What sounds like you are experiencing on day 4, and will probably experience for a few more days until your body regulates to your new diet. The great that you are adding the salt to water, however, I think you might feel “less brain fog” and dizziness if you added at least 1 tsp to 1 liter of water. Or another thing you can try is adding a half a teaspoon of salt to a glass (8oz) of water when you feel dizziness or headaches or mental cloudiness coming on.

thank you Andrew! I ended up buying an expensive electrolyte replacement from GNC (only because I was dizzy at the time and didn’t want to travel to far away from home). It’s void of sugars and seems to be effective. I think however in the future I will go with a simple unflavored electrolyte replacement from Vitamin Shoppe that I seen online.
