Keto Mojo

Would love to be able to link my ketone readings to keto mojo. Especially since they now have a Bluetooth connector it is super simple to import my readings to their app. If I could get them into carb manager like Apple health/Fitbit that would be awesome!

    Smulk,

I just ordered my keto-mojo because I wanted Bluetooth integration of my levels. I certainly could be misunderstanding something here, but doesn't everything flow into Apple health right now?

Food info from CM & BW from keto-mojo?

    Thx,

    Paul

Paul4083 I don’t believe Apple health has a place to track ketones.

    Doh!!

I was really hoping that keto-mojo wd be able to seamlessly integrate its info with Apple health. :/  I'm starting to work through the Apple Health Kit API & I was (am?? )  hopeful  that everything nutrition related wd be trackable in the AHK ecosystem.

    Thx,

    Paul

Paul4083 In reality this is mostly a keto-mojo issue as even blood glucose does not flow into AH right now. I am chalking (hoping?) that up to the fact that their software and Bluetooth connector is very new rather than exclusivity with Heads Up Health.

Yeah the cross promo w/ HUH was/is a concern for me. Hopefully that will be integrated soon. One I get my keto-mojo unit, I'll do some testing & report back what I find.

Rblazer thanks for the post! I completely forgot to update my ketomojo experience.

    tl;dr

    ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!

    details...

I got to talk  w/ one of the founders of heads up health, David Korsunsky, & I have to say I'm very impressed with what they are doing. The problem right now  in the consumer driven health space is bringing all the data together. HUH is designed to bring it all together & I am very excited about what they are doing.

Right now when I use keto-mojo my ketone & glucose results flow directly into heads up health through the blue tooth connector & from there they go wherever I want them to go. Carb manager, Apple health, etc.

So what I was initially looking for in the AHKAPI, I found in HUH.  and then some.

I went ahead and paid the lifetime $199 fee & am in the process of getting all of my medical records (FROM EVERY SINGLE SOURCE) into HUH. That combined with the nutrition data from carb manager, the activity/health data from Apple watch has really allowed me to zero in on my situation.

& It has literally changed my life.

    Best,

this is interesting that HUH can sync into Apple health. I’ve been trying to use Apple health as the aggregation point for all the data. Can you give use more detail on why you see HUH is a better choice to be the aggregation point?

Also - As an aside - I finally got my oura ring a few weeks ago and am very impressed with it so far as a sleep tracker. If you haven’t seen it, it’s worth checking out.

  • Paul4083 But I can't sync Carb Manager into HUH - only MFP.  When I spoke via chat, they suggested Chrono Meter.  I'd rather use Carb Manager over Chrono Meter.  I used to praise MFP until I realized it doesn't calculate net carbs at all AND most of the database is user submitted and not verified like Carb Manager.   Suggestions?

From what I can tell, HUH is stepping in to where no one wants to go. Apple, Fitbit, etc, want to lock you into their ecosystem. So far they have shown NO interest in working with anyone outside of their ecosystem. HUH, utilizing the human API, is trying to be technology agnostic.

Correct. According to David, they are working on bringing Carb Manager directly into the HUH fold. No ETA that I was given, but I expressed my desire to him to get CM into their ecosystem post haste. Right now , the CM data gets into HUH via the Fitbit app link (done behind the scenes by Human API). It's a kludge,  but it works.

  • So do I need a Fitbit to do this, or can I create an account to handle the CM data as a “pass thru” until they get CM directly connected?

thats the cool part, you do NOT have to buy a fitbit. You DO need to register at fitbit and download the fitbit app to your phone. Once you've done that, there is an option to use your phone as a "fitbit". Shocking to hear, but this isnt very well advertised by Fitbit. :)

Once you set that up, then inside of HUH, you set the "fitbit" connection up inside of the Human API.  All of the macronutrient data was entered into CM only. Fitbit picks it up & then HUH picks it up from Fitbit. Again, It's a kludge, but it works.

See screenshots for what final product looks like.

  • As a practical matter, HUH still has few subscribers relative to CM, and more important, gets poor reviews.  The combination, esp. compared to CM, creates an uphill battle for HUH.  K-M and CM need to partner to create additional vale to both products.  Exclusivity when it comes to data driven products is a killer unless you dominate the market.  No one does.  The apps and devices withthe greatest cross compatibility tend to succeed.  Developers pay attention.

Hi Paul and other CMers here on this thread,  Am I understanding this correctly that you can 'backchannel' your CM data through fitbit and get it uploaded into Heads up Health? (after paying for your fitbit and a lifetime account at HUH)?

Close. You don't have to pay for a fitbit. :) All you have to do is download the fitbit app and use the  mobile track option where you use your phone as the fitbit.

Yes, there are lots of tracking apps.  If you walk with your dog there's an app called "Walk for a Dog" that tracks your walks and gives a donation to local animal rescue.

Smulk You are correct and this is something I recommended to Keto-Mojo group recently. I couldn't give them a 5-star review because they should at least be able to connect their sync app with the Apple Health app for glucose info.

  • I have requested Carb Manager allow us away to import our ketone readings via CSV as we can export from Keto Mojo into CSV.  They need to integrate directly because Apple Health doesn't seem to be in a rush to track ketones even though many have requested it.

    Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out to Carb Manager customer support. I apologize for the delay in our response.

Thank you for this excellent feature request, it's definitely something other users would benefit from! We appreciate your suggestion, and I have forwarded it on to the development team for consideration.

We do have an integration with Keto Mojo that is on our roadmap, which is some good news.

Please do let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns. I would be happy to help!

    Kind regards,
    Kelli"
