Hi Kathy welcome 😀 nice to ‘meet’ you.  You’ve been fortunate finding here as you started, I think I was week 3 and my knowledge prior was a bit dismal. I am not assuming yours is too 😂 there are lots of old posts it is well worth spending time reading through & some very knowledgeable, kind & generous (with their time & experiences) members. Don’t hesitate to ask things & be patient for replies as we’re in many time zones. Hope it’s going well for you & your keto flu when|if it hits is short lived.

Joanna , Thanks for the welcolme Joanna! I've been on a few low carb diets in the past but last week I ran into a friend I haven't seen in 6 months and she told me about the keto diet..she lost 18 lbs in 9 weeks and her heart doc recommended it! What is the keto flu? The past few days I've been sluggish and had an upset stomach and nose keeps running..could that be it? How long does it last? Thanks for reaching out!!

kayburm sounds like you might be starting. Stomach upset seems to be common in the first couple of weeks as we eat a very different diet. Keto flu wipes you of energy and can last a week or many weeks. There’s a search icon in the top right of the page that will help you find things. Ketone salts apparently help relieve symptoms, like you I knew nothing of keto flu or becoming fat adapted. badmojomn & other more experienced ones generously helped me hugely. If you read some of either of our old posts you’ll find it. If I come across it meanwhile, I’ll copy & post it back here for you, sorry must dash.

Joanna kayburm It lasted awhile for me- more than perhaps the typical person. I actually also had a period where I thought I was going to be okay then I felt really bad as a whole. Went to doc everything was okay blood wise. I uped my suplliments to include a large variety - and I quite using coconut oil in my coffee( was doing 3 T total in the morning ) the same time. Within two days I felt like a new person. I was probably fat adapted already and decided to quit the coconut oil. I think that may have been the culprit but no one will know.

I actually just had a stomach kind of ache and had those about a month ago also. I would eat lighter meals, add a little more veg and make sure your not constipated. It should pass however you have to keep in mind sometimes gallbladders do not like us jumping in full throttle. That's a thread in of it self that should be started...
