First day on keto diet

I am looking forward to this journey. I am 59 years old. I have struggled with my weight for years. I need to lose 30 to 35 lbs. This app shows I need 25 net carbs. Not sure of the difference between total carbs and net carbs. It looks like I need to do some research.

  • total carbs is the total amount of carbs a food item/ recipe has; the amount of fiber content in the food item/ recipe is subtracted from the total carbs giving you the net carb amount.. so eat higher fiber foods and the carb amount is reduced!  for example..  1/4 cup of raspberries has 7 total grams of carbs, but it also has 4 grams fiber... subtract 4 from 7 and that "nets" 3 carbs for those raspberries!

  • Hi Debbie. I’m Diana and this is my first day also. I’m 60, and up 25 pounds. I’m just learning about all this as well. My pre  diabetic my husband has full on type 2, uncontrolled.
