Athletes? Hard Workouts?

I am new to keto... suggested by my accupuncturist. So far, pretty good. I started a month ago and down 10 pounds.  A deep magenta on my stick since I began this app and sticking to macros.  Been through really rough night sweats, but they seem to be waning.

Just checking in to see if there are any athletes doing this? I have been training for an upcoming 1/2 marathon AND rowing, while throwing in a couple of days of strength training. I have felt like crap while doing either (about 6 miles in while running and completely while rowing...Like my tank is empty). My energy level is normal when not working out.  I see mentions of "carb cycling".... anyone successful with this? Is this only for weightlifters/body builders?  Our sprint season (for rowing) begins in a couple of months. And I'm gonna have to get creative to stay competitive! Any insights are helpful!!

  • I actually have slowed down my workouts, because I was too sore which indicates breaking down muscle.  So, I had to up protein a bit and keeping my heart rate around 120-130 while exercising(65% for me). I have read several articles that indicate maybe cooling it on exercise until you are comfortable in keto.

Thanks for the advice. I will keep looking around to see what else is out there. I am sure my body will adapt soon. Unfortunately, I'm way too competitive to take it easy for even a few days!

    I will keep you posted!
