Newby question!

I've been doing this for 2 weeks and I'm doing  pretty well for the most part.  I'm down 5 lbs.   I have a question,  I'm  planning my day today.   I'm  really close on calories but still low on fat. By about 10g.    I'm  exactly where I should be on protein though.   Which is more important...fats or calories?  I can add more fat but that will put me over on calorie count....and  go!

  • What is your calorie count without the added 10g of fat? I don't dwell on my macros too terribly much as long as my carbs are where they should be. I eat until I am full, which is what the "fat" in your diet should be used for.  Try leaving the extra 10g out - if you find yourself hungry in between meals & it results in snacking, then add the extra fat back until you're fat adapted. The longer you do keto, the less hungry you'll become.

Sometimes I'm under my caloric, fat & protein targets, sometimes I'm over. For me personally, I'm never over on protein, though, as I am not a huge fan.

Thank you for responding.   I'm at 16 of 20 NGms,  114 of 123 fat,  96 of 99 protein  and  1559 of 1578 call.

  • Pnkgrl You're welcome 🙂  Those numbers look pretty on point to me.  I say leave the extra fat out unless you're hungry! Some days you'll be more hungry than others. It's okay to go over/under on your macros from time to time. They're only suggestions. Overall, listen to your body. It will get easier as you go! Good luck!
