Over on daily protein and fat allowances

Hello! I am new to keto and I’m having a hard time balancing the daily allowance for everything. It’s been easy staying within the net carb and calorie allowance, however when I do that, I noticed I’m over in fats and proteins for the day. I can’t think of how to adjust things without eating more vegetables but then I’m pretty sure I’ll go over the net carb allowance because vegetables have a surprising amount of carbs! Has anyone else struggled with this? Did it affect your weight loss, or should I stop worrying about it? A few people I spoke to said as long as I’m under the net carbs for the day, I shouldn’t worry too much...

thanks!

  • If you were just starting out it’s fine to go over on your proteins and fats. However as you progress you will want to make sure that your fats are a limit and that you don’t exceed them. Carbs and calories are also a limit. Protein is a goal.

For me, I am normally under my carbs, under or at my calories, under my fat, and at or over my protein macro.

If you log all of your food ahead of time you will be able to better select a mix of foods that fit within your macros. I find that logging your food the day before really helps! Not sure if you are already doing that.

I tend to go over on protein. What I have found helpful is weighing and measuring and pre-planning. As above, I too find it helpful to plan and log in food the day prior.  When I do not pre-plan, and I log in foods along the way and see the protein creeping up, I have to balance out the last meal of day by finding lower protein choices or cutting back on portion size.  The other night, a salad and a cup of bone broth with butter and salt did the trick.   The biggest take away for me is portion control.  I found I was over-eating.  I am now strict on portions and have lost 7 lbs since 1/3/20.  I am also hydrating well.  Hope this helps.

mommytimi this is only day 5 for me and I’ve been feeling pretty tired and without much energy by 5pm after my workday, I’m hoping that feeling is temporary while my body is transitioning....that being said, I do still go for walks 30min-1hr per day with my dog, so I’m still moving and burning calories a bit. According to my Fitbit that is synced with CarbManager, my daily calories out are more than my daily calories in as well, which I thought is part of how weight loss worked! I’m feeling discouraged because after 4 days I have somehow gained 1.4 lbs even though I’m staying under net carbs and calories.

Nicole hi sweety, stay on track and forget the scale at first, use a messuring band ,you will see the Differenz faster

You are probably having the keto flue,go up on the good fats(dont be scared, thats how keto works) and your electrolites, lemonjuice and salt in water helps...give it time and your energy will burst up again

Im going through it myself again, since xmas knocked me out...but i remember ,you will feel better soon

Very important to have your fatintake, cause thats what your body will use for energy now

    Saludos
