Somethings gotta give

I’m Heather. 35 years old and weigh 327 pounds. I gained a lot of weight after cancer and depression years ago. Now at 35 my body just seems it’s falling apart. I stay sick constantly and always in pain. I am tired of killing myself slowly and need to do something. My overall goal is to lose 150 pounds. But gonna take it week by week and one pound at a time. Being sick so much has already taken so much from me. It’s not taking me completely. I can’t let it. I have a husband that I plan on spending many more years. I gained a lot of weight and stayed severely ill for about 3 years. To the point I couldn’t even hold down solid food but was still gaining weight. Found out i had cancerous mass on thyroid. Had surgery and all went well. But after gaining all the weight I was having trouble battling depression over it. I went from about 130 to now my biggest at 327. And enough is enough. I need to do this. I can do this. And I will. After everything I have been thru I’m not giving up this easily. Bless everyone on their journeys as well as my own. ❤️

I don't mean to sound too personal, but perhaps you should chat w/ your doctor about this to keep them in the loop.

That said, you absolutely can do this.   Just stick with it!

people are different so it might take a while to get in to ketosis.  Good readings are in the ‘learn about keto’ tab.   Time well spent.

I summarize my reading as:  stay below your carbs.  They’re a limit, not a goal.

Get close to your proteins; okay to be a little below/above.  Dont exceed by much though - excess carbs can be processed into glucose and that diminishes your progress.   Fats are your new fuel.   Eat them until your full but understand that the more fats we eat the less stored fat we burn.  Its a zero sum game. Once carbs are reduced, your body burns fat.  The idea - especially at the start -is to burn stored fat.  Thats what gives the most health benefits.   So keeping your fats below your limit forces your body to burn more stored fat to make up the difference.

A thought on proteins.  You can set your target weight in the settings/health goals tab.   I set an interim goal rather than going for the whole thing at once.  That worked well for me.  As i got close to my interim goal, i updated it to my final goal.   I say that to say this: your target weight drives your protein macro and once set your protein macro doesn't change until/unless you change your weight goal.

I hope this helps and i cant wait to hear of your success.  You can - and will - do this!
