  • What are you eating?  They do fluctuate, but focusing on hitting your macros is important in my experience.

Yeah im not too sharp at all on what my body needs for macros, but im trying to incorporate as much healthy fats as possible in my diet and not to over do it on protien, im taking in around 15net carbs a day. I was 220 and in about 2 months im down to 205, im used to lifting and cramming as much protien as possible but im trying to lean out.

when I did Atkins 25+ years ago I always did my test strip first thing in the morning.  This time I read that the test works better in the evening and I am consistently dark purple.   I decided to test this morning and very light coloring.  What I have read is that the test strip is not the most accurate because ketones in urine are from what has 'spilled' over from the blood.  You could be in ketosis and just not enough ketones to spill over but still in the blood.  I don't know if anyone else found this.    That being said I am only down 1 lb in a week since I got on the scales

WOW, I filled out the info on this custom keto plan and it has me eating  2800 calories a day,  I am trying to keep my carbs at 20 grams ( induction phase) and it has me at 30-40,  this is a bit scary.

Annie123 ,  , it was way too mamy or me as well.  You can go into settings, then macros and put the limit to what you want.

Wow from me too! If I ate based on the recommendations on that link....I can't even imagine what that would look or feel like.   I have played with many keto calculators and have never had a recommendation like that.  You can set your own macros based on the recommendations in this app...they seem much more realistic and doable.

The recommended calories were over 2000 for me as well! I lowered it to 1200 but find I can seldom eat more than about 800, I'm just too full. Last night I had 2 pork sausages (68g each) and 100g each of broccoli, leek, red pepper, and courgette. I had to share the last few bites with the dogs and it was still less than 500 calories!

Jerod Turner , you should maybe set your macros up. It only takes one time and then you don't have to worry about 'being sharp' about it, the program tells you what you need and when you get it and should stop. Good fats are good but if you aren't keeping track and are having too much then it will definitely affect your wt loss. Remember for the macro numbers: for carbs the macro is a LIMIT; for proteins it's a GOAL; and the fats should just be enough to keep you feeling satiated and happy!

Lastly, if you really want to know your numbers you should consider getting a blood tester. You can a meter for both glucose and ketones at a pretty reasonable price, the lancet too is inexpensive, it's the strips that are a bit spendy. But, if you are only measuring once a day they can really help keep you on track and motivated.
