Question on Consistent keytone levels

I have been doing Keto for a a little over a month lost 15 lbs. feel good. I weigh every thing and count every Macro. I also have been testing ketone and glucose levels. Every morning without fail my ketones are .4. Which is low.  And every day they rise.  Sometimes to over 3.0 sometimes a little over 1. My carbs are 99% of the time under 20. Is this normal? Or are keytone levels Stay above .5 all the time?

  • I have seen a video, maybe from Dr. Eric Berg on YouTube (check him out!) that your body does some kind of natural glucose or insulin flush every morning, so you r ketones would be way off in the morning.  Always check later in the day.  Sorry I can’t be more accurate, but that’s the gist of it.

  • Angelinapie is correct. Ketones fluctuate all day.  Everything I’ve read says you should only test once a day and at least two hours after a meal.

Perfectly normal. The lower ketones in the morning are the Dawn Effect. Cortisol is the enemy of ketones, and cortisol is higher in the morning in order to get you going for the day.
