Pcos Keto Newbie

Hello I am new to the whole Keto sensation everyone has been raving about it. I have PCOS and I had a lot of people who recommended this lifestyle change. I am trying to conceive my first child so I鈥檓 not sure if this is a safe option but I am hoping to stabilize my blood sugar and keep my weight down. Hopefully it all works out.

I do hope it works for you. Re weightloss & blood sugars foresure it will.

i know someone (UK) who had 2 sons with the same condition as you and having been told it wasn't possible she changed her diet & ate for new life. I am sorry I haven't seen her for a couple of years but know someone who can find out more, may take me a while so meantime, get reading old posts and welcome 馃 Enjoy getting started. YouTube Leanne at Healthful Pursuits is very informative.  Not that I eat just as she does...

mmhudgens you鈥檙e more than welcome, how are you getting on? I also enjoyed some freeYouTube  videos by Susan Peirce Thompson Ph.D. her knowledge is immense ~ but I couldn鈥檛 live my life weighing every morsel that I eat ~ or at least I couldn鈥檛 currently see myself doing that, I am still winging it but I feel sure as I get nearer to my goal (28lbs to go) I will have to get more precise....

  • mmhudgens  Hi! I am in the same boat as you. I was officially diagnosed this past month, and my doctor recommended a LCHF diet. I'm starting today - cupboards and fridge were cleaned out last night! We are also trying to conceive our first child, hoping diet and lifestyle changes will help. In addition, my doctor started me on Metformin to help with insulin resistance. Good luck to you, we'll have to follow each other's journey. :)

allison0004 so far I like it! One week in and down a couple of pounds. I haven鈥檛 been put on metformin you will have to let me know how that goes. I take inositol and raw prenatals to help balance my hormones. I wish both of you all the luck on your journey. I hope this will be what I need to have the child I always wanted. Good luck!

  • mmhudgens Thank you! How many grams of carbs is your daily target? I have seen so many different opinions, not sure where I should set my max net carbs.

Hi ladies, well I have gathered the info from Gem who now has too very healthy sons after being told her PCOS was so bad she would never have any.

Total Keto max 20g net carbs, this means you don鈥檛 have to have 20g but that any should predominantly come from vegetables ie no low carb processed foods, no sugar and get off metformin as soon as your Dr allows you to. Do not focus on calorie consumption unless obese, get your fats. Within one year son number one born. Within 2 more, son number 2  no sign of PCOS on any scans since.

there is a YouTube poster Keto Christina who shares her own similar experience.

allison0004 mine automatically gave me 44 net carbs a day on here. I of course think that is low but I also think the fat is high.. lol the fat is 102 g a day. This is my first try with keto so I鈥檓 not positive how it鈥檚 supposed to be.
