Struggling!!

Hi all,

So i am  doing 5% carbs - 25% protein -  70% fat  ratio keto. 1481 calories intake .

I am struggling with reaching marcos target on all three. If i try to reach the  marcos i go over calories.  Is any one else having this problem or is it  just me ?🤦‍♀️

I eat basic food eggs, butter, avocado,  meat , double cream , nuts

Do i have to reach the exact ratio?

How can i reach my marcos target.

What should i do? HELP ME PLEASE !!

I dont want to give up !

Appreciated!!

THANKS X

I’m new to this specific diet as I’ve done Adkins in the past so I understand what you mean. I’ve over calories not sure how to adjust so it all works out at end of day!

The macros aren’t goals to be reached. They are more like limits not to exceed. Most importantly, stay at or under your carb limit. If you do that don’t sweat the fat &  protein too much. If you’re +- 20 on both orvrither of them you’re fine.

Jgunn Thank you for this answer, I was wondering the same thing I dont look at the calories but am always over on fat and protein but on target or under for my carbs so this makes me feel much better. I am new to Keto also and still figuring things out.

Hi, I've had this issue too. I've stayed under my carbs, usually stay under my fat, but often go over my protein.  I'm still losing (15.4 pounds in about 3.5 weeks). I'm trying to cut back on the protein at lunch, which should help me stay under. I'm curious how (or if) it will affect my weight loss.

Tmauger this is not uncommon and should not affect your weight loss. It’s arguable by many actually that 25% protein is barely enough depending on your age and sex. I’ll use myself as an example.  It was nearly impossible for me not to go over on protein while still even partially meeting the fat. After some extensive research and multiple protein calculators, I decided to try for 28% protein as that put my total protein grams much closer to what my research said was better. My ratios became 5/28/67   (I only count total carbs, btw) A huge difference in how I felt and all of a sudden I was less hungry between meals. I stayed fully in ketosis. I still struggle with getting enough fiber and so now use a little psyllium in coconut milk every morning and sometimes after lunch. That little trick completely wiped out hunger between meals and got my fiber up.
