New here- how to stop sugar cravings?

Hello everyone.

 

i just started today (again) and I was wondering If you guys could give me some tips of how to control sugar/candy cravings. I've tried this diet before and I have always fails bc at the end of my day, I want to eat sweets. I manage to control myself for few days, but I always give in, and for that reason I fell of the wagon. 

I don't want to use sugar replacements because I think is like trying to quit smoking by using electronic cigarettes, it doesn't solve the problem of craving sweets, and what I want is to stop having this cravings. 

I hope someone can tell me how they did it or what I can do since that's the only reason I can't keep this diet more than a week, and I really want to stick with it without suffering or fighting against myself.

    At the beginning I hear ya! I stuffed myself with nuts and squeeze cheese and anything keto friendly. Pork rinds and sour cream. Hate to say it. Lol. Only in the beginning.

    I gave in today :( I kinda feel I'm never gonna make it. But at the same time, I don't want to quit trying.

    diane79 addiction ~ this isn’t just will power. Don’t stop trying, you are so right to avoid all artificial sweeteners too. Your brain responds to sweetness hitting your taste buds, it can’t tell the difference between real sugars & artificial, it orders insulin into the blood to deal with it.... guess what, nothing for it to do so it in turn triggers hunger to get you to eat. Your body in turn being amazing, puts that unused excess insulin into storage = your fat grows. (See ref below for a true scientific explanation 😂🤣😂 *) 

    You have to prepare yourself. Fail to prepare ~ prepare to fail! (A term I have known for many years.) Rid your home of it, your car, your means of getting it at the end of the day when you are tired, vulnerable & feel you ‘deserve it’. You have to  plan to have something delicious for dinner, that’s quick, then take a fabulous bubble bath with a good book, music or phone a friend you haven’t caught up with recently.

    i went cold turkey on alcohol, all sugars & carbs over 20g per day & I was excited at how I felt in control of them not vice versa. I have struggles as does everyone here, you just have to want this more than sweets (I can’t even stand the taste of a lip balm I used the other day, it was so sickly sweet tasting! I hadn’t even noticed before). You are not alone but you need to get your head in the right place first. Hugs 🤗

    I should add, once you hit ketosis the cravings get weaker & go by the time you become fat adapted ~ otherwise I would not have got this far along. Break the 2 week brick wall down & you are through into new territory 🙌

    Joanna I agree. But even at 5th month- since I don't have family on board to purge the "closets"- I feel I'm still fighting a little, but keeping my eye on the "prize". 😊

    badmojomn that’s really really tough on you , we have loads of alcohol in the house but not wanted it ~ not sure how I could cope with sweet stuff lying around! You’ve educated yourself on Keto so inspiringly yet even with all that knowledge you still have to fight it yikes.... I thought I was going to get invincible ~ admittedly I’m not that nieve & know one day......

     Bread has always been a big weakness, what we have is kept in the freezer and my husband gets what he needs out. (Not that being frozen would have normally put me off, straight into the toaster it would have gone!)  I want to be well and slim in that order, more than I currently want to cave in but we are imperfect humans..... here will be my port for distress. Yay us 🙌
