I second Joanna. Yes it鈥檚 normal. The first week is water loss due to insulin dropping.

If I stick to my macros (net carbs, protein, fat) and gain a pound it鈥檚 due to water weight gain. Might be my hormones. Might be higher salt intake. Might be a higher net carb day. Might just be more food in my digestive system

If the gain is consistent then I look at where I鈥檝e gotten off plan.

    *not tracking everything

*estimating portions instead of measuring food

*eating too late in the day

*grazing all day not allowing my insulin to drop

    *too much sugar alcohol

*sugar in ingredients of packaged foods

    *new food I鈥檝e added in.

Look at long trends with weight.

This is normal. I've had two times now (currently in the second) where I have "stalled/gained" weight. I kind of freaked out the first time as I went up 4 lbs in 2 days. But I stuck with it and the weight ended up falling off and I lost another 5-6 lbs on top of that. I'm currently in the second bout of this gain, I went up 5 lbs in a couple of days. I know now that as long as I keep being strict with what I eat, it'll come back off and I'll lose more again.

That could easily be attributed to just a water thing (you should lose 10-15 lbs of water weight alone).
