On Day One, First-time Keto-er

Hi friends,

I'm  on day one and following the 2-week challenge by Diet Doctor. I used wholesome yum's macro calculator to see how much I should be eating based on my specs. I'm  feeling a bit overwhelmed with it all. I've  been researching for the past few days trying to discern what my calorie intake and macros should be at. Does anyone have any helpful tools? I am wondering about the accuracy of web based BMI calculators and macro calculators. This app recommends I eat about 1290 calories. And the macro calculator said I should eat 140 g of fat, 63 g of protein, and 25 g of net carbs. My head is swimming. Any tools you guys know of to help me simplify would be great. Also I like inventing my own recipes.. does anyone else do this and how do you ensure you're  factoring in your macros correctly?

    The first thing is to relax and then congratulate yourself for beginning the life-changing journey!  I used to just do the "no carb diet". literally, and so when I bagen the Keto diet a couple of months back, I too was overwhelmed when trying to study and understand the macros and the ratio of protein to fats, etc.  I'm still not too well-versed on what I am "supposed" to do, as much as just making sure that I do not eat anything with sugar or carbs, or if I do, to keep them to a bare MINIMUM.  Most people agree that consuming anywhere under 25 carbs - some can even go higher - a day, will put you into Ketosis and should keep you there.  Of course, if you can do 0, even better.  Again, I am no expert and I am still working to understand some things, but start there, while you take the time to learn and hopefully find someone here much better informed than I am, to help out.     Just don't look at it as something too complicated, or give it up.  It really does work.  All the best to you!
