Happy New Year
My name is Mariska. I will be turning 50 in a week. I can’t believe that. I am very happily married. We have no human children but we have basset hounds and Siberian huskies. I work full time as a nanny for a vascular surgeon. My goal for 2019 is to lose 120 pounds. I know it will be hard but the results will be worth the hard work. I am a diabetic and I would love to be able to stop taking my insulin.

I’m new here too. I’d like to lose about 70 lbs this year and get off my diabetes meds too. We can do it!

Thank you for the support!!! I’m here for you also. Are you taking Metforman? My doctor has me on it and I am having a hard time with it.

Mariska yes, I’ve been on Metformim for about 3 years. No problems so far, but I’m really hoping to get fit and stop the meds this year. My mother in law died last May from complications of diabetes (kidney failure). Scared me a lot!

I am very sorry to hear about the death of your mother in law. I hate having diabetes. I was diagnosed 3 years ago. It is not easy having it. Sweets were never a problem for me and still is not. My addiction is potatoes. It does not matter what—chips, mashed, fried, baked, grilled. I especially love fries with gravy, yummy. Diabetes scares me a lot. My oldest brother found out he had diabetes when he had a massive stroke at the age of 50. I hoping to lose weight to avoid having a stroke or heart attack myself.
