Keto confusion ~ dare you live without macros....?

I’ve been living Keto (with a blip period due to a pre keto existing health problem, which I have since learnt is better with Keto!) for 13 months and have 13lbs left to lose. I enjoyed so much of this YouTube video as for all but 2 months of my Keto life, I have not tracked food or even attempted macros. Everything Casey talks about listening to your body is so true for me. I do eat a wee bit more cheese than she does currently.

    I started heavily tracking everything that went into my mouth. If I ate 1 nut, it went on the list! Measured everything out to the ounce/gram. Now, keep in mind, I like the aspect of logging foods and seeing the numbers, but I grew tired of it. To me, it almost felt like a restriction rather than  tool.

    I started on June 11 of this year ... not Keto, but just dropping carb sources. Out went bread, starchy vegetables, pasta, etc. Somewhere around the 3-4 week mark, I transitioned to heavily tracked Keto. And after 2 months of that, I dropped tracking my macros.

    So far, after a 4 month period, I have dropped 52.2 lbs in total.

    SW: 327.2

    CW: 275.0

    GW: 180-190?

    Fantastic that I am not alone in this. 🎉🎉🎉🎉 I too wrote the most insignificant appearing of grams down.... 3 weeks was my longest stretch it is so boring and makes me so obsessive. I occasionally track a day as I have only 10lbs to goal so I don’t want to start with creeping carbs. Well done you on a brilliant loss also. 🌷🌸🌷 👏👏👏

    This sounds so familiar...hahahah

    I started by cutting the obvious big carbs and also anything that contained sugar (including high fructose corn syrup or any other trick they use to add sugar without calling it sugar).

    I did that just to see if I thought I could actually do this keto thing.

    Turned out once I got through the first week I really didn’t miss those things.

    I got Carb Manager and started entering everything and using the guidance it provides to make sure I was “doing it right” as far as the fat/protein/carbs ratio. It turned out I was actually doing pretty well. Made a few adjustments and I continue to use it to spot check, but I’ve slacked off on logging everything. No...I've slacked off a lot. But I have confidence.

    starting weight: 214

    goal weight: (I wanted to reach this by Christmas this year) 185

    current weight: 177 (happy dance)

    reached my goal weight months ahead of schedule so... lowered it to 175 by Christmas.

    i needed to buy a couple pairs of new jeans. (Have gone from 38 “relaxed fit” to 34 slims!)

    will need new shirts as my old ones are obviously too big now, but... those will take a while.
