Do I HAVE to eat?

When I stay very low carb (under 18) and high fat/protein (have a 4 oz steak or chicken thigh) for breakfast.  Have left-over veg (squash, brocc, or caul) as a side, lots of butter on all of it.  I drink lots of water and/or club soda (maybe a splash of lemon).  Cup of black coffee in the morning.  I don't get hungry after about day 3.  So I eat less.

Doctor says I'll never lose weight by eating less because my body thinks it's starving so hangs on to everything.  He says I need to eat more carbs (this I'll ignore!) and WAY up my calories.

If I'm not hungry, do I HAVE to eat?

  • If you’ve already set your calories at a deficit then you should eat to what you’ve set.  Very low calories below your BMR  for an extended time and your metabolism will slow down.  It’s basically why calories counting ultimately fails because you have to eat less and less to lose.

Your doc is right about the calorie thing but not the carbs. Weigh, measure and track your food and try to get as close as possible to your protein and calories.
