Joy checks in
Well, I've lost 12 pounds, which feels good, though it's mostly water weight. I've got 11 pounds till my next big milestone and 61 pounds to my first goal.
I had to go to the doctor because pain in my back/side/abdomen. As I suspected, I am expecting . . . my first kidney stone. 😱 So far it's not been too bad (maybe 7/10 pain, 8 for a couple brief spasms) and doc said to just wait it out.
Was pleased that despite the pain, my BP wasn't off the chart. And the scales at the clinic were SIX POUNDS lower than my home scales. I know the numbers don't matter, but that was a shock.
Anyway, managing to stay on course despite a little bit of feeling sorry for myself. Split a yummy DiGiorno Pizzeria Pepperoni pizza with my teen, but just scraped the toppings off my half and will be giving the crust to the dog (something on which to serve him the large amount of beef and chicken fat I've accumulated lately).

Joanna Thank you! No, just pain meds. But my pain isn't high enough (which means I'm constantly nauseated but haven't vomited yet, ha!) to suggest the stone is obstructed so I'm supposed to just wait on it to come out on its own. I'm managing okay. In fact I was able to sing in a special choir service today (with one quick duck out to pee--I'm drinking even more than usual).
Some people claim kidney stones are caused by a keto diet, but others say the opposite, and besides, this stone couldn't have formed in the past month. Urologists say that any change in eating habits can cause preexisting stones to dislodge and make their run for freedom.
Thanks for the sympathy, though. 🤗
