Eating when I am not hungry. Is it okay to skip meals?

I haven't been eating anything until around noon each day. I try and drink a bulletproof coffee in the morning whilst I am running around getting the kids to school but thats it. I don't feel hungry most of the time. I try and eat all my calories (around 1300) between lunch and dinner but sometimes I find myself eating just to hit my macros, not because I am hungry.  Last night I treated myseld to 1/2 cup of keto ice cream just to get to my macro goals but ended up feeding most of it to my 2 year-old because I was just too full. Do I need to eat meals if I am not hungry? Is it okay to be under on the macros if you are also low on calorie intake? I am worried about going too low on calories because in the past when I have eaten too little the weight-loss stops.

It's weird that your not hungry. Have you had this problem in the past? Either way you should consult your docotor about this, see if there are any problems with your body from lack of food.

I would say listen to your body. I rarely reach my macros but try to get at least 1,000 calories (my allowance is just under 1,500 currently). When I’m not hungry I just extend my fast. I normally do IF from 8PM until noon but if I’m not hungry at noon I keep going. Some days I break my fast at 6PM other days I break it at 3. Your body will tell you what you need.

  • Krys I guess I have been kinda doing if. I stop eating by 8:30pm and don't usually eat again until 1pm the following day, somedays its even longer. Do you still find you are losing weight if you skip meals and don't hit your macros? I thought I would just be starving all the time but most of the time I feel content. Then why I do eat I can rarely finish me food.

Keto and IF go really well together so yes I’ve lost about 26 lbs in 3 months and that includes cheat days and a life. I don’t workout out often, just Pilates once a week and a walk around my neighborhood for 15-30 mins once or twice a week. Weight loss is about creating a calorie deficit and adding a carb deficit forces your body to burn fat for fuel. So think of your macros as the maximum not the goal. I focus on that content feeling that you mentioned, I don’t starve myself and I try not to overindulge.
