Thanksgiving
Hi everyone. My doctor put me on a low carb low sodium diet this week. Thanksgiving is so close. I was wondering what others are planning on eating to not go over their lilmit. I know turkey would be fine to eat. Green beans without the goodies. I looked a little stuffing would be around 20 carbs. A little cranberry sauce is like 25 carbs. Any ideas?

Make some homemade keto friendly cranberries. I'm going to gently steam cauli , purée it with a dab of butter, salt, T of Whole cream , garlic , asiago parm cheese mrs dash original and bake it in a pan on low until golden brown on top. That's my mashed tato. Gravy will be turkey drippings, cooked with a dab of sour cream, turkey bullion , a little Whole cream, reduce on low, this is gravy. No bread for me. Keto pumpkin pie. I'll still make stuff for non keto followers or there may be some disgruntled turkey goers. Whole whipping cream with a dash of sugar free jello or pudding is a great treat also.

https://youtu.be/btn0PySHLdA lots of ideas in the video starts about 4 minutes in. Also Dot2Trot on YouTube does cooking Keto videos, she’s great.
Why low sodium anyway? With loads of Himalayan pink rock salt & Eating Keto my blood pressure has come down soooo much! Hope you’re okay.

I have to avoid every kind of salt. I have one kidney and kidney disease. I have also gained a ton of weight from steroids while taking chemo. So I need to lose weight and get healthier before my next round with cancer. It is what it is. I did good my first week and tomorrow I weigh again. I’m sure I will do fine but I am going to eat some stuffing on Thursday. Maybe a dollop if cranberry sauce. I found a recipe for a cream cheese pumpkin bar desert that looked really good. I think that will be my desert.

So. I have a friend who is physically active, not overweight and 43 like me who has been diagnosed with high blood pressure she said “ through the roof”. She always ate fairly standard American diet but more on the “healthier side” salmon fish veggies etc. is there really such a thing as familial hypertension? That’s what they told her. She’s physically fit! Non smoker? How can this even happen to her? Would just low carb help her feel better and not have to take meds? She has gone through a few life changes, severe in her lifetime so far and emotional stressors. I’m thinking her doc should be checking adrenal glands and kidneys ? She ate a bit of cheese popcorn but I don’t remember her ever eating a tremendous amount of salt on top of foods.
